How to Keep Your Child Active at a Young Age

Last updated 4 hours 36 minutes ago

Children begin their journey to academic success when they start attending daycare and preschool. But these wonderful early learning education programs do not just focus on mental wellness; they also focus on teaching the importance of physical wellness. Teaching children how to stay fit and active will help them gain the tools they need to live healthier lives in the future. These tips can help you keep your child active, starting at a young age:

    • Make fitness fun. Adding fun to the mix is always a great idea when teaching children. Incorporating games, role-playing activities and contests into your fitness lessons is a fabulous way to get children more interested and more involved. Nearly any type of exercise or workout routine can be enticing to children if it includes the right details. Beloved games such as tag and hide-and-go-seek can provide a workout for children—encouraging skilled running and proper breathing. If you have more than one child, you can turn fitness activities into contests to inspire better participation.
    • Encourage good habits. Watching TV and surfing the Internet can help children learn different tidbits regarding the world around them. But these hobbies can also encourage laziness in children. Limiting the amount of time your children spend in front of the TV and computer screens can help promote more physical activity. You can also encourage children to be active while enjoying their TV or Internet time.  Showing children the fun and importance of spending time outdoors can also encourage more physical activity.
    • Enroll them in an early learning education program. These programs focus on helping children grow into smart, healthy, and caring young adults. That is why these programs typically put an emphasis on healthy eating and physical fitness. Enrolling your child in a childcare program will help your child learn new activities and make friends to do the activities with!

How to Deal with Separation Anxiety from Your Child

    Last updated 9 days ago

As a parent, you get the honor of being your child’s first best friend. You provide care for your child, teach him or her about the world, and spend more time with your child than with anyone else. This is why it is so difficult for some children to feel safe and comfortable when they are away from their parents. If you are getting ready to enroll your child in childcare or preschool, check out these tips for dealing with separation anxiety:

    • Talk to your child. Having a conversation with your child about what to expect from childcare or preschool is a great way to help him or her cope with separation anxiety. Let your child know how fun and exciting it will be to make friends with the new kids he or she will meet, and make sure you child understands that starting his or her education is an important part of becoming a grown-up!

    • Practice spending time away from one another. Spending time apart may be as difficult for you as it is for your child. Some parents find it even more difficult to separate than their children do! This is why it is important to practice spending time apart. Ask family and friends if they have some free time to watch your child. Drop your child off or invite your babysitter over while you leave to run errands. This practice will help your child become more comfortable spending time away from you.

    • Set a good example. The best way to prepare your child for childcare or preschool is to be a great role model. If you take a long time to say goodbye to your child or appear sad when you are saying your goodbyes, your child will be more likely to feel anxious about spending time away from you. If you give you child a short, sweet, and happy goodbye, however, he or she will be more likely to feel comfortable and competent.

Popular children’s songs aren’t just fun to sing; they’re also very helpful in the learning process! That’s why it’s important to teach your child your favorite catchy tunes starting from an early age. With the amazing Wheels on the Bus app, available on the iTunes Market, teaching your child to sing the most popular children’s song can be easier than ever!

This fun and interactive app provides a totally new and exciting experience for your child. You two can learn the song together, and then your child can choose from a number of great activities. Let them explore the bus by spinning the wheels, opening and closing the door, and swishing the wiper blades!

Another great way to encourage a love of learning is to sign your child up for daycare. You can learn more about the benefits of daycare by contacting the team here at ABC Early Childhood Learning Academy today at (678) 954-1091.
