Fun Learning Activities You Can Do with Your Child at Home

    Last updated 4 days ago

Learning doesn't end when your child leaves preschool or day care. As a parent, you are charged with providing education and instruction to your child, and you need to make that learning fun. Here are some fun learning activities you can do with your child at home after her or she leaves childcare:

    • Nature Walks
This is a great time of year for nature walks. You can do so much for your child's early learning by teaching him or her about nature at an early age. Point out flowers and trees, look for birds, squirrels, and other animals, and talk about the shapes of the clouds. You can instill a love of learning and of nature with a simple yet fun walk outdoors.
    • Sorting
Help your child build on the counting and sorting skills he or she learned in preschool. Sort beans by variety, noodles by shape, canned food by variety, measuring cups by size, and frozen treats by color. Your kids will have fun as they practice their counting and sorting, and they'll be developing the skills they need to be successful in school.
    • Scavenger Hunts
On the first day of summer, plan a summer scavenger hunt. Have your kids look for specific things related to summer based on clues you provide. Or, have them help you pack for vacation by doing a scavenger hunt for chairs, beach towels, sand toys, and bathing suits. The clues can be tailored to your child's age and could include rhyming, counting, or spelling activities.
    • Night Out
After dark, grab the flashlights and head outdoors for fun learning. Plan this venture like you would a daytime nature walk, but include nighttime components, such as owls, lightening bugs, and stars. Don't forget to teach your kids about nighttime safety by wearing reflective vests, bringing flashlights, and looking out for cars.

Finding a child care can be a real challenge, I know I've been there. Dropping my kids off is hard, but they love ABC and the teachers. I'm always impressed by how caring and knowledgeable everyone at the school is. This is now like a second home. More

What Will Your Child Learn in an ABC Early Learning Academy Program?

    Last updated 19 days ago

As your child transitions from an infant to a toddler, it is important to make sure you provide the right tools that will promote healthy development. This includes creating a comfortable environment at home, supplying plenty of opportunities for physical and emotional growth, and enrolling your child in the right preschool or childcare program. If you enroll your child here at the ABC Early Childhood Learning Academy, he or she will experience the following fun and adventure in one of our early learning programs:

    • Baby Bugs. If your child is between the ages of six weeks and one year, our Baby Bugs infant program may be the perfect choice! This program focuses on providing individualized care for each student, or “baby bug.” Some of the major topics covered during the Baby Bugs program include language acquisition, physical growth, and learning about how to interact with peers and instructors.
    • Tiny Turtles. Children between the ages of one and two years will participate in the ABC Early Childhood Learning Academy’s Tiny Turtles program. This program also serves as the first part of our two-part toddler program. Tiny Turtles students are given a number of opportunities to show their curiosity and explore the world around them. Students also get more experience interacting with their classmates.
    • Bumblebees. Toddlers between the ages of two and three years can enroll in the second part of our toddler program, Bumblebees. Students participate in a number of hands-on activities that allow them to learn more about how to behave and what to expect from their future educational pursuits.
    • Preschool. Children between three and four years of age can attend our preschool program. This program introduces children to lesson plans involving science, language, math, music, art, and more. Students focus on developmental goals that are important during this stage of life.
    • Pre-Kindergarten. We also offer a pre-kindergarten program that follows the Atlanta Public School calendar. Children can further their academic and personal growth with the lessons studied during pre-kindergarten.
